You’re not broken—you’re patterned

If all you knew was how to live in a city, it would be nearly impossible to survive in the forest.

As humans we only know what we are taught. The longer our lives are, the more lessons we learn, which changes our perspective.

Many of us believe something is wrong with us. We believe the trauma we endured caused us to be defected. We question why we aren’t being consistent, ambitious, stronger, smarter etc. We think our trauma are flaws the world can see and will judge us for it, because we judge ourselves.

Your patterns are influenced by your development, environment, family, community, biology, genetics; mainly your history. If you were taught or only experienced one way of doing things, you wouldn’t know there are other ways to handle things until you witness or experience it.

Even by experiencing different patterns, healthier patterns, this does not mean you will automatically want to adapt that pattern or know how to practice that pattern or be good at displaying that pattern.

Patterns and behaviors only change through practice. The first step is realizing you want to change your unhealthy patterns into healthy patterns. Then it is practicing the pattern. Practice  means you will not be perfect, you will slip into old patterns, you will need reminders of why you want this healthy pattern, you are going to be uncomfortable.

Uncomfortability means growth… so you are not broken, you are growing.

Growth Moments:

Remind yourself your reason for growing and adapting healthier patterns.

Explore how you feel when you excel at your growth moments.

You don’t have to hold it all anymore. Release a little. Relearn slowly. Reframe when you’re ready.
